We aim to end poverty in Franklin County
Ripples of Change, a nonprofit organization (501c3), is one of twenty-three community-based initiatives across Kansas that meets weekly to reduce poverty by building skills and relationships that strengthen families and individuals. Poverty is more than financial instability: It is the extent to which one lives without resources; therefore, poverty is best alleviated through building positive relationships. Through community participation, individuals gain skills and knowledge needed to end the cycle of poverty within their families.
Individuals and families are referred by local social service agencies or they can self-refer. If you are interested in participating, please fill-out a Referral Form and email to Rebecca McFarland at rmcfarla@ksu.edu or send it to Rebecca at:

Participants study and explore poverty through the lens of economic class in a 12-week Getting Ahead class. We investigate the impact that poverty and low wages have on us and what it takes to move out of poverty ("getting by") to "getting ahead". In Getting Ahead you are the expert in regarding your life. No one is going to tell you what to do or think.
